Brahman (Pavamana prayer)

Asato Ma Sad Gamaya

A prayer from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (1.3.28) of the Shukla Yajurveda, said in the Pavamana chants: lead me from the unreal to the real, from darkness to light, from death to immortality. The Upanishad itself explains the three lines. Today it is recited as a morning or school prayer and as a peace prayer, with the three Shantih at the end.
